Avery MPI 1105 Easy Apply RS: Why It's the Go-To Material for Vehicle Wrap Printing

If you've been in the wrap industry for more than a few months, you've heard about Avery MPI 1105 Easy Apply RS. It's one of the most widely used vinyl wrap films in the industry — and for good reason.

At Printwise, it's the material we print on for vehicle wrap jobs. Not because it's the only option, but because for the type of work wrap shops send us — full vehicle wraps, fleet graphics, commercial print jobs — it consistently delivers the best combination of printability, conformability, and install results.

What is Avery MPI 1105 Easy Apply RS?

Avery MPI 1105 Easy Apply RS is a 2-mil calendered vinyl wrap film manufactured by Avery Dennison. The "Easy Apply RS" refers to its repositionable adhesive system — a micro-channeled pressure-sensitive adhesive that lets air escape during application, reducing bubbles and making repositioning significantly easier than standard films.

It's designed specifically for printed vehicle graphics and wraps, and it's used by shops across the US and internationally.

Why wrap shops prefer it for printed work

Conformability. The 1105 conforms well to curved surfaces, recessed areas, and complex body panels. For the majority of full vehicle wrap applications — cars, vans, trucks, trailers — it performs consistently and reliably.

Print quality. The film accepts solvent, eco-solvent, latex, and UV ink well. Colors reproduce accurately and the surface holds detail cleanly. When you're printing a client's brand with specific Pantone colors, you need a film that doesn't fight you on color accuracy. The 1105 is consistent run to run.

Easy Apply adhesive system. The repositionable adhesive is genuinely useful in a shop environment. Installers can lift and reposition panels during application without the vinyl immediately committing — which reduces waste and makes tight fits more forgiving.

Paired with Avery 1360Z/1370Z lamination. Printwise laminates every print with Avery 1360Z (gloss) or 1370Z (matte) overlaminate. This pairing is optimized by Avery — the adhesive, ink compatibility, and durability specs are designed to work together. The result is a finished wrap that's protected from UV, abrasion, and wash damage.

How long does it last?

Avery rates MPI 1105 at up to 5 years for printed graphics in vertical applications. Real-world longevity depends on climate, cleaning habits, and how the vehicle is used. For most commercial wrap applications, 3–5 years of performance is a realistic expectation.

What jobs is 1105 best for?

  • Full vehicle wraps on cars, vans, trucks, and trailers
  • Commercial fleet graphics
  • Partial wraps and panel graphics
  • Spot graphics and cut-out prints

It's not the ideal choice for extremely deep channels or highly recessed areas where a true cast film would conform more aggressively. But for the majority of wrap jobs a shop takes on day to day, the 1105 is the right call.

Why Printwise prints on 1105

We chose Avery MPI 1105 as our primary print material because it gives wrap shop partners the most consistent install results across the widest range of jobs.

When a shop orders from us, they're not getting a mystery film. They know exactly what's arriving — 1105 with Avery overlaminate, printed on a calibrated machine, shipped next day. No surprises on install day.

That consistency matters when your reputation depends on what goes on the car.
