Planning a wall wrap project? This guide covers everything from material selection to installation techniques for professional wall graphic applications.

Wall Wrap Material Types

Repositionable Wall Vinyl

The most popular choice for interior wall graphics. Features a low-tack adhesive that allows repositioning during installation and clean removal without damaging paint or drywall.

  • Best for: offices, retail, temporary displays, events
  • Removal: Peels off cleanly for up to 2-3 years
  • Surface: Smooth painted walls, glass, metal panels

Permanent Wall Vinyl

Stronger adhesive for long-term installations that need to withstand high-traffic environments. Not easily repositionable but provides superior adhesion on textured surfaces.

  • Best for: restaurants, gyms, retail fixtures, warehouse spaces
  • Removal: May require heat and adhesive remover
  • Surface: Works on lightly textured walls and painted concrete

Fabric Wall Graphics

Printed on woven polyester fabric with adhesive backing. Offers a premium textile feel with no glare — ideal for corporate environments and high-end retail.

  • Best for: executive offices, luxury retail, museums, galleries
  • Finish: Matte, zero-glare under any lighting

Sizing Your Wall Graphic

  1. Measure the wall — width and height in inches, noting any obstacles (outlets, switches, columns)
  2. Add bleed: Include 1-2" of extra material on all edges for trimming
  3. Panel planning: For walls wider than 54" (standard roll width), your graphic will be printed in panels with overlap guides
  4. Panel overlap: We recommend 1/4" overlap between panels for seamless joins

Surface Preparation

  • Clean the wall with mild soap and water — remove all dust, grease, and cobwebs
  • Allow the wall to dry completely (24 hours if freshly painted)
  • Freshly painted walls: Wait minimum 2-4 weeks before applying vinyl to allow paint to fully cure
  • Test adhesion in a small area first if the wall surface is textured or has special coatings

Installation Steps

  1. Dry-fit: Hold the graphic against the wall to verify positioning and alignment
  2. Hinge method: Tape the top edge, peel backing from the top 6-12 inches, and squeegee down
  3. Squeegee technique: Work from center outward in overlapping strokes to push air bubbles to the edges
  4. Panel alignment: For multi-panel graphics, start with the center panel and work outward
  5. Trim excess: Use a sharp blade to trim any overhang at edges and corners
  6. Final smoothing: Go over the entire surface one more time with a soft squeegee

Design Tips

  • Use bold, high-contrast designs — wall graphics are typically viewed from 3-15 feet
  • Photo murals work beautifully — ensure 150+ DPI at print size
  • Consider the lighting in the room — matte lamination reduces glare under fluorescent lights
  • Break large designs into logical panel divisions that follow natural visual breaks
