How Much Does Perforated Window Film Printing Cost? ($4.99 per Sq Ft, Examples by Window Size)

Printed perforated window film costs $4.99 per square foot at Printwise — 6 mil 80/20 one-way vision film, printed and ready to install, with no minimum order. A 4 ft × 6 ft storefront window (24 sq ft) is $119.76, a 4 ft × 8 ft window is $159.68, the side and rear glass on popular cars, SUVs and pickups takes 30–67 sq ft ($150.65–$336.53), and on cargo vans 29–118 sq ft ($142.56–$590.12). Files approved by 2 PM EST are printed the same business day and ship the next business day. We print and ship; installation is done by you or your installer.

This page gives you the arithmetic before you order: what the film is, what a typical storefront or vehicle costs, what changes the price, and how to measure. The rate is the same whether you order one door panel or a whole row of storefronts.

What you get for $4.99 per square foot

  • Film: 6 mil perforated window film with an 80/20 ratio — 80% printed surface, 20% open holes. That is the strongest graphic of the common perforation patterns while still letting people see out from inside.
  • Print: full-color eco-solvent print on an Epson S8170, with a free file check by a person before anything prints.
  • Finish: shipped unlaminated. Unlaminated 80/20 typically lasts about 2 years outdoors; an installer can apply an optically clear perforated-film laminate if a job needs longer life.
  • No minimum order and no setup fee. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

What changes the price

  • Area is the only variable. There is no per-design, per-color or setup charge; a photo graphic costs the same per square foot as a one-color logo.
  • Number of panels. Several windows of the same size simply add up. Splitting one large window into panels does not change the per-foot price.
  • Bleed. Add 1 inch on every side of each panel so the installer can trim to the frame.
  • Laminate. Not included and not required for most short- and mid-term campaigns. If you want one for a longer outdoor run, your installer applies an optically clear perforated-film laminate on site.

How to measure and order

  1. Measure each pane of glass, height × width in inches, inside the frame or gasket.
  2. Add 1 inch of bleed on every side (2 inches to each dimension).
  3. Multiply height × width and divide by 144 to get square feet. Add up all panes.
  4. Set up your file in CMYK at a minimum of 100 DPI at full size, with bold, high-contrast artwork — fine detail and small type are softened by the perforations. See how to prepare a print-ready file.
  5. Order the total square footage on the 80/20 perforated window film product page and upload your file.

80/20 vs other perforation ratios

Perforated film comes in several ratios. 80/20 gives the most vivid graphic outside and a slightly darker view inside; 70/30, 60/40 and 50/50 are progressively more open, with brighter interiors and weaker graphics. Printwise prints 80/20 because it is the ratio most storefront and rear-window jobs call for. For a full explanation of how one-way vision works, read the perforated window film guide.

A note on vehicle rear windows

Rules for covering a vehicle rear window with perforated film vary by state, and some states also limit side windows. Check your state's vehicle visibility rules before ordering rear-window graphics for a road-going vehicle.
